Basic Fun unveils second web series ahead of new
Basic Fun! has a second animated web series popping up in advance of the global toy launch of Cake Pop Cuties in early 2018.
Following the release of the funny and irreverent web series Poopeez, Basic Fun! brings heart and charm with the fantastical and delectable world of Cake Pop Cuties. Created in collaboration with Brandberry, Cake Pop Cuties is a collision of popular trends, including cake pops, blind reveal toys, and slow-rise foam.
Character Options will distribute Cake Pop Cuties in the UK.
To bring the 3D Cake Pop Cuties world to life, Basic Fun! partnered with Executive Producer Matt Wexler of Wexworks Media, who enlisted Little Blackstone Studios to draw on their collective experience on franchises such as PAW Patrol, Bakugan, Smosh Babies, and Mike Judge Presents: Tales From The Tour Bus to make the project a success. The series of short animations, invites viewers to follow the Cuties through their adventures in a dessert-filled world.
“Kids are spending more time on YouTube, and the platform has become a powerful way to connect with fans,” said Jay Foreman, CEO of Basic Fun!. “We have seen the popularity grow for our first web series, Poopeez, and are planning to bring the same attention to Cake Pop Cuties. Once children fall in love with these characters in the animation, they will want to collect all the characters as super squishy toys, too.”
In January, the Cake Pop Cuties’ collectable toy line will be available globally at retail, showcasing the cute and squishy cast of characters. The first series of slow-rise characters will be sold in blind capsules resembling cake pops, as well as multipacks.
“The popularity of slow-rise toys has been blowing up, and with Cake Pop Cuties, we’re excited to bring this hot trend to the small doll collectibles space,” said Hugh Kennedy, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Basic Fun!. “The visually-rich 3D animation and adorable cast of characters in our toy line will be sure to delight any child with a love for collecting cute animals and squishy sweet treats.”
