All change for hobbies at Nuremberg Toy Fair
Hobby lines such as Model Railways and Model Construction will combine to offer buyers a better way to source
Major changes are in store for Model Railway and Accessories and Model Construction, Hobbies product segments at the 70th anniversary edition of Nuremberg Toy Fair.
The Spielwarenmesse is open 30 January to 3 February 2019, and will merge both groups into a new single product category in Hall 7 and 7A.
The international diversity of both industries will be reflected in one location. Major brand manufacturers, such as Tamiya, Märklin, Noch and Bachmann will come together alongside small, niche suppliers to offer an optimal mix of products for trade buyers. Manufacturers whose products are more relevant to the toy trade in the classical sense will switch to the Electronic Toys category in Hall 4A.
Ernst Kick, CEO of the Spielwarenmesse, said: “By merging Model Railways and Model Construction we’re resetting and strengthening both segments. We’re creating a product group that is equipped for the future and reflects the interests of our trade visitors.”
This latest move has been met with a positive response from exhibitors; Hall 7A is already nearly fully booked with just a few spaces to spare.
Besides model railways in all gauges, and accessories for building dioramas and scenery, the new product group also features model construction sets, Die-cast models and innovative RC and RTR models. Hall 7A will likewise host the special area for small series manufacturers, who will round off the wide spectrum of products with their more unusual model railways and accessories.
