Carte Blanche Greetings has signed Worlds Apart to develop an exclusive new toy range for its successful character brands.
Tatty Teddy, the Me to You bear with a blue nose, will appear with My Blue Nose Friends, due to hit the market in Autumn 2012.
The best selling brands have a combined annual global retail value of over $1 billion USD, have joined together to create a new linked concept for the toy category. The initial launch is expected to include collectable toys and play-sets, with scope for future product development in the longer term.
Tatty Teddy originally appeared on greeting cards, but now features across many product categories including plush, apparel and gifting. My Blue Nose Friends has been a massive success story for Carte Blanche, with a product range including collectable plush characters, children’s partyware, figurines and confectionery.
Sarah Quigley, CBG licensing manager, commented: "This is a groundbreaking move for our brands, and Carte Blanche is delighted to be working with Worlds Apart to turn the concept into reality. Me to You and My Blue Nose Friends are all about friendship, fun and sharing. We’re confident that Worlds Apart will translate these values into innovative, imaginative and irresistible toys."
Speaking about the opportunity, Lucy Wynn Jones, head of licensing at Worlds Apart, commented: "The demand for Me to You gift merchandise from younger girls is already huge and gathering momentum - by actively marketing and creating a new range of collectable toys and play-sets within our toy market we are simply satisfying the demand that's already there.
"Our ability to develop exciting play features and beautifully designed toys, together with our manufacturing and material sourcing experience will all come together in this unique and exciting new range of toys to meet the expectations of children, parents and retailers alike. We could not be more excited about working with Carte Blanche on this opportunity, and expanding our product offering within the girls’ category," added Lucy.
