Wise Owl wins best UK Schleich display
Dorchester retailer, Wise Owl Toys, was announced the best Schleich shop window display in the UK for 2010 as part of a worldwide campaign to celebrate both the beauty of Schleich and the company’s 75th anniversary.
More than 550 stores from 20 different countries took part in the competition to create a Schleich Wild Life Window based around the signature anniversary piece; the Schleich Plane.
Out of numerous entries, Wise Old Toys was considered the best in the UK by judges, who commented on its successful implementation of all of the decoration materials which were provided by Schleich as part of an effort to raise awareness to consumers across the globe.
In second place was Nimble Fingers of Dublin; and both companies received valuable product voucher packages.
The overall worldwide winner of the Schleich Wild Life Window competition was Die Murmel Toy Shop from Germany (right), which was chosen from over 5,000 separate images of window displays entered from across the world and judged by an international panel including many toy magazine editors.
As winners, the store owners were presented with a trip to Africa and a chance to see the wild animals that are so carefully presented in real life.
Gary Wilmot, national sales manager from Schleich, commented: “This pilot worldwide campaign was implemented to celebrate our landmark year and in all aspects it has been highly successful. Entries from UK retailers were particularly strong and judges had a difficult decision in choosing the one they considered best. However, Wise Owl Toys really stood out for its innovative display which is a great representation of the world of Schleich.
“Following on from this hugely effective campaign, Schleich will be rolling out further initiatives designed to unite our retailers across the globe, including the Who’s Your Hero Campaign later this year.”
