UKMums.tv opens toy portal for parents

New parent-led online brand UKMums.tv is launching later this month, claiming to offer a fresh way for toy manufacturers to engage with real parents.

The site, due to launch on 25th February 2011, is currently pre-promoting on Facebook and Twitter with details of its media portal where real parents will give honest product reviews, and then help to promote the products that they love across a dedicated network of parents within the UK.

UKMums.tv says it plans to utilise ‘mummy blogging’ whereby influential bloggers can promote their reviews across social media platforms and their own successful websites, creating continuous promotion that targets the right consumer for each brand.

The content will include both written and video reviews, as parents will review straight to webcam, speaking directly to an avid audience who trust the word of their community. Parents will also be able to discuss and write about issues that are important to them, making the website an interactive portal where the content is really written by mums, for mums.

UKMums.tv say there will be opportunities for suppliers and manufacturers, who will be provided with detailed feedback on their products, to create their own campaigns.

Speaking ahead of the launch, UKMums.tv editor Carly Sumner commented: "Our site is a fantastic way for manufacturers to directly engage with consumers on a personal and direct level, allowing parents to really help spread the word about the products they are passionate about. No endorsement is more trusted than the word of other mothers and because all products are reviewed for free, consumers know that the reviews are 100 per cent honest."

"Mummy blogging is extremely popular at the moment and by creating an online community solely for this demographic, we can create a ‘one-stop shop’ for manufacturers to connect with their ideal consumer. Not only will parents get to write about what they love, they will get to speak about it on camera, putting a face to each product," Carly added.
