Coolabi secures Bagpuss deal with Zeon

Bagpuss, one of the classic brands represented by Coolabi has secured two new licensing deals with watch, gift and gadgets company Zeon.

The manufacturer will produce a range of kids and adult bags, purses, wallets and a new line of clocks and watches for launch later this year.

Plush partner Posh Paws continues to secure great sales for its Bagpuss line, specifically at Past Times which reported Christmas sales of the Bagpuss plush increased by 80% on 2009, and 800% on 2008. This plush was also listed as the number one retro toy for Christmas 2010 by the Daily Mail.

Intelex’s microwaveable plush also proved to be a consumer hit last Christmas with exceptional sell-through in Argos and 2,000 other retail outlets.

Outside of consumer products, Bagpuss’ stage show which ran through December 2010 into January 2011 at the Soho Theatre in London was successful. In the short run, 5,000 people went to see Bagpuss in the 160 seat theatre and the show received good reviews.

Anna Hewitt, Coolabi’s Head of Licensing, says: “These new product lines from Zeon and the fantastic success of Bagpuss plush at retail, as well as the stage show, are testament to the enduring popularity of the character. We have brand new style guides for Bagpuss and will continue to expand the brand further in 2011 through new licensing deals and live performances.”

Bagpuss has a proven sales track record, a huge fan-base and is a brand that people just don't grow out of. The Zeon team are very pleased to be able to be involved with a real UK classic that's good fun yet very commercial.”
