Thomas & Friends breaks Guinness World Record
Thomas has steamed into the record books as Japan has taken back the World Record for the longest toy train track.
The record was broken at the Fuji-Q Highland theme park using track from Tomy’s toy railroad Plarail Thomas series.
At 2,221.514 metres long the massive track has beaten the previous record, which was broken in Australia last year, by 207metres.
The diorama track was constructed by 40 pairs of parent and child teams from across the country at the Highland Hall Theatre. The track was declared a record breaker by Frank Foley the Guinness World Record Asia Pacific representative and The Fat Controller was on hand to receive the official certification for the longest plastic toy train track.
The track length is six times the height of Eiffel Tower and is five times higher than the Empire State Building.
Antonio Huab, HIT Entertainment’s SVP Thomas & Friends Asia Pacific, commented: "After previously holding the title in 2006, everyone on the Thomas team in Japan is delighted to have reclaimed the world record. Thomas is hugely popular in Japan and the finished record breaking track makes a great additional attraction to Fuji-Q Highland in Japan."
The track will be on display in Thomas Land Japan until 4th September as part of the park’s Special Summer event.
Thomas & Friends is the number one Western pre-school brand for boys in Japan.
