Royal acknowledgment for Jumbo

Royal Jumbo has received news from the municipality of Zaanstad, that Her Majesty Queen Beatrix has decided to renew the 'Royal' title of Jumbo for another 25 years.

Games, puzzles and toys manufacturer Jumbo was initially awarded the 'Royal' title in 1978, when it celebrated its 125th anniversary, and the renewed designation will be presented on 24th March.

Founded in 1853, Royal Jumbo is one of the oldest manufacturers of games and puzzles worldwide, with core activities including creating, developing and producing games, puzzles and toys. The Jumbo Group sells its products worldwide and has its own production facility in Medemblik, the Dutch Games Factory.

In the past three years Jumbo has grown by over 50 per cent, to a turnover of well over €40 million, and has been profitable since 2009. In 2010 Jumbo reported 19 per cent revenue growth and doubled the profit before tax. JumboDiset has grown to a medium-sized European toy manufacturer and wants to push to the summit of the European toy companies.

The Queen can confer on a business, association or institution the right to use the designation 'Royal'. To be eligible, an organisation has to be a leader in its field, be of national importance and have existed for at least 100 years. The company also needs to be completely independent with regards to business strategy and financial policy. There are currently 550 'Royal' businesses, institutions and associations in the Netherlands.
