Bandai hires eight year-old to test toys

To test the new range of Ben 10 toys, Bandai have hired an eight year old boy from Luton as a chief toy consultant.

Bandai teamed up with leading children’s newspaper, First News to scour the country for the biggest Ben 10 fan to review the new toy range, with James Childs picked as the clear winner. In his new role James will receive a special delivery of toys to review each month before they hit the shops, and get to advise on how to modify the toys features and functions, as well as contribute ideas for products to develop for the smash-hit Cartoon Network series.

The first video of James reviewing the toys is now available on YouTube as well as being promoted throughout the year on the First News website. The videos show James dressed in a suit and tie demonstrating toys including the Ultimatrix, 10cm figures and alien creation chamber. Any duplicated toys sent to James will be donated to a local primary school for use in a literacy and art competition, and at Christmas a selection of the toys will be donated to James’ local hospital the Luton and Dunstable Hospital's Children’s Ward.

The news of James’ appointment has caught the attention of the national press including mentions in The Sun, Metro, i, The Times, Daily Star and the Mail Online as well as being featured on Daybreak.

Boys brand manager at Bandai Andrew Welch commented: "As soon as we saw James’ entry we knew we had found the winner and a true Ben 10 fan. James’ enthusiasm for the brand and eagerness to get involved is a great asset to us and we look forward to hearing his thoughts on the new Ben 10 Ultimate Alien range of toys."
