Disney launches Christmas charity campaign

Disney Store will donate up to 15,000 soft toys to children’s charities as part of From Our Family to Yours Christmas campaign

From Toy Story and Finding Nemo, to the sisterly love of Frozen, no one brings families together like Disney. To celebrate this Christmas, Disney Store is encouraging families across the UK to participate in its From Our Family to Yours campaign, supporting both Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and In Kind Direct, which will help Disney reach hundreds of local children’s charities across the country.

The national campaign launched this week with a star studded special event attended by celebrities Stacey Solomon, Michelle Heaton, Lydia Bright, Tamara Ecclestone,, Tamzin Outhwaite, Jenni Falconer, Adele Silva, Fiona Bruce and their families at London’s Oxford Street Disney Store.

The From Our Family to Yours initiative invites families to take a festive photo in the Disney Store or dig out a classic from the family photo album and share their treasured moments through Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #DisneyStoreFamily. Each family that submits a photo will be entered into a competition to win a family trip to New York, including a private shopping spree at the Disney Store in Times Square. For every family photo shared, a soft toy will be donated to a child through Disney Store’s chosen national charities, up to a total of 15,000 across the UK, France and Ireland.

“This year our Christmas campaign From Our Family to Yours is extra special, as we’re asking families to share their most cherished memories with us, in aid of helping spread a little Disney magic to children across the UK and Ireland,” said Graham Burridge, Managing Director, Disney Store Europe. “For the past six years we have been overwhelmed by the response from the public who support our annual charity campaign. We hope lots of people will come to the store to take their photos or share their favourite family photos online.”

This is the seventh year Disney Store has run a Christmas campaign to support children’s charities, and to date, has donated over 125,000 soft toys throughout Europe.

Chris Hollins, Linzi Stoppard, Tina Hobley, Charlie Condou, Vanessa Feltz, Lizzie Cundy and Georgia Toffolo were among the other stars that attended the Oxford Street launch event and joined in the fun by posing for a family photograph. Last night’s event benefitted Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity with 10% of all sales being donated to the charity in addition to the donation of soft toys.

The From Our Family to Yours campaign will include a number of fun and free activities that families can take part in over the festive period. This will include letter writing as well as card making where children can create their own photo frame Christmas card and insert a family photo.
