Airfix launches Operation Herrick Afghanistan range
Range set to hit the shelves in late September- Models to represent key modern day vehicles and troops serving in Afghanistan
- Land Rovers, helicopters and fully armoured land-based troops included in new line
Airfix, the UK’s ultimate model making brand, has today announced the launch of its long awaited Operation Herrick Afghanistan Airfix range.
Available from late September, the models in this range represent some of the key modern day vehicles and troops that have now served for over a decade in Afghanistan. All products are scaled to 1:48, meaning all the equipment and built replicas can be modelled together.
Featuring in the Operation Herrick Afghanistan Airfix collection is the Westland Lynx AH.7, one of the world's most manoeuvrable helicopters, which is today used by the British army as a light reconnaissance and scout helicopter with additional offensive capabilities.
Also included are a duo of modified Land Rovers, including the Snatch, an up-armoured version of the Land Rover 110 suitable for armoured patrols in potentially hostile environments, and the Land Rover WMIK (Weapons Mounted Installation Kit), the British Army’s heavily armed patrol combat vehicle that continues to serve as an effective Special Forces and reconnaissance vehicle.
Completing the set are a selection of fully armoured land-based and air support troops, providing enthusiasts with the ability to build themselves a full scale replica of army life in Afghanistan.
This range is being launched exclusively with Model Zone on 22nd September, and will be released globally from Monday 24th September.

With the war in Afghanistan now into its second decade, we decided that it was time to recognise the scale of British efforts and produce a range of models that represent the modern equipment being used by our forces today.
